My favorite software has got to be GeoGebra!
Many districts have spent thousands of dollars to equip math classrooms
with "Geometer's Sketchpad." I have nothing against GS, but it costs a
lot of money and is quite limited.
- Students can't view the sketches outside the classroom unless they purchase the program and download the individual modules.
- The Java applets are difficult at best to write / create.
- The Java version is not very robust at all.
- For a positive note, there are a lot of community built modules available for download. However, the GeoGebra community is building an extensive library as well.
GeoGebra is FREE for teachers and students.
Below is a file I created to demonstrate relationships among angles about parallel lines.
