My favorite software has got to be GeoGebra!


Many districts have spent thousands of dollars to equip math classrooms with "Geometer's Sketchpad." I have nothing against GS, but it costs a lot of money and is quite limited.

  • Students can't view the sketches outside the classroom unless they purchase the program and download the individual modules.
  • The Java applets are difficult at best to write / create.
  • The Java version is not very robust at all.
  • For a positive note, there are a lot of community built modules available for download. However, the GeoGebra community is building an extensive library as well.

GeoGebra is FREE for teachers and students.

Below is a file I created to demonstrate relationships among angles about parallel lines.
