6th & 7th Graders

At Spearville High / Middle School, we had what we called the "Wheel Program." This program provided other options for students that did not want to take the band class. Every quarter, these students would switch between the teachers that offered these alternative classes. I chose to teach technology, or rather, introduce some technology, get them started and help them teach themselves, according to their own interests.

This "interest" idea gave the students a lot of leverage in what they did. Much to everyone's surprise, the students often went to one of their curriculum teachers, asked about projects that could be used in their classrooms, and then built modules to order based on the teacher's input. This proved to be an inspiration to them both.
